Tell me about your role at HUB24 Group? What do you do?
I am a Senior Manager in the Investment Risk Control (IRC) team which sits within the Risk and Compliance team at HUB24. The IRC team perform multiple monitoring tasks within the business, but we have a focus on the mandate compliance monitoring of the Managed Portfolios.
Why is your work important for HUB24?
The work of the IRC team is essentially protective. There are many risks in running the HUB24 Platform and what we do is good risk management. HUB24 is subject to a high level of regulation and the IRC team’s monitoring helps ensure we pick up problems and solve them early rather than potentially breaching our compliance requirements.
How do you empower your team to be the best they can be?
I try to encourage the IRC team members to actively bring forward and discuss any ideas they may have related to the processes and tasks our team perform. We are always looking at ways to perform tasks and processes more efficiently and different viewpoints provide different ideas.
In your opinion what makes HUB24 Group a great place to work?
HUB24 is a growing business so there are always new opportunities to be involved in new projects or provide ideas on enhancements which could be implemented. The people at HUB24 also make it a great company to work for. HUB24 has a friendly environment which makes it easy to collaborate or just get to know other people within the business.
Which one of our group values resonates with you the most and why?
It’s hard to choose between ‘Succeed as One’ and ‘Deliver with Integrity’, as both reflect the IRC team’s work.
We ensure that Managed Portfolios on the HUB24 Platform are delivered with quality and integrity, managing the risks to make sure customers get what they expect. The IRC team also collaborates closely with Investment Management and Operations, providing lifecycle oversight of investment managers whose products are on our platform, ensuring we succeed as one.
What is your ‘superpower’ and how to you use this in everyday life?
I wouldn’t really call it a superpower, but I tend to be detailed, and I like to dig into processes or outcomes to see how the process operates from end to end in order to get to the outcome. This tends to help me understand why certain processes are in place and how they could possibly be enhanced.
If there was one piece of career advice you could give someone, what would that be?
Have confidence in yourself and don’t be afraid to put forward ideas. People view things in different ways and have different perspectives so never assume that your ideas have already been raised. You should also take advantage of opportunities to learn not only within your team but across the broader business: understanding how other areas of the business operate can help you to improve your own direct processes.
