Tell me about your role at HUB24: what do you do?
I have been working at HUB24 as a Technology Intern since November 2023. My design and technology background seemed to fit in perfectly with the HUB24 internship, while the role offered the flexibility of casual work which could fit in with my university schedule. While I didn’t come into the role with a technical background in finance, wealth management or superannuation (I barely have any super to start with!), I have found these areas to be particularly interesting and I have become more fascinated by these aspects of the business.
My job as an undergraduate student studying technology (Bachelor of Design Computing and Bachelor of Advanced Studies majoring in Computer Science at the University of Sydney) involves supporting a broad range of opportunities in various business teams across the entirety of the HUB24 ecosystem.
Specifically, my job involves design and technology orientated project work. I have worked in the Innovation Lab summarising, interpreting and visualising financial data with the D3.js framework, and on UI documentation and web development of components required for a new Class product used as a reporting feature of the HUB24 Platform.
What’s the best thing about working at HUB24?
My favourite part of working at HUB24 would definitely be the culture and values of the company. I consistently look forward to what the future holds at HUB24, and I feel the Intern Program is a very supportive, relatable and enjoyable working environment surrounded by like-minded yet diverse people from a wide range of backgrounds. I also find the structure and organisation fantastic: the flexibility of the program coupled with the vast range of personal learning and training opportunities makes working at HUB24 the best.
Which HUB24 Group value (Enable our clients, Create possibilities, Succeed as one, Delivery with integrity) resonates most for you and why?
‘Succeed as one’ resonates very strongly with me as I genuinely feel like part of a team that values my experience and skillset, while also collectively working towards a great goal as a business. The business unit I work under is highly collaborative, meaning I work with a variety of teams from both technical and design backgrounds in the Innovation lab and UX Design team.
What is your ‘superpower’ and how do you use this in everyday life?
My superpower would be balance. Whether it be designing, working with technology, studying, lifting in the gym, running a business, spending time in the outdoors or even hanging out with my friends and family… I think I manage to balance a lot of very different passions in very different spaces of life.
If there was one piece of career advice you could give someone, what would it be?
Be ambitious. Strive to be the best, start your business, go on the adventure, take every opportunity and work your guts out. You get out what you put in, so set your sights high and go for it!
