Meet Noel Yu, our Investment Operations Team Leader who has been at HUB24 since March 2022.
With a Master of Commerce, Accounting and Banking, Noel brings more than 16 years of experience to his role overseeing the reconciliation and settlement of the HUB24 platform: a role integral to the company’s day-to-day operation.
Noel’s path to success hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Entering the workforce during the Global Financial Crisis, Noel believes the challenges he faced helped set the foundation of his approach to work today.
“It wasn’t for a lack of trying, I applied for jobs for six months and really struggled to find any corporate work or jobs in finance,” he says.
Rather than giving up, Noel took opportunities that allowed him to build skills and broaden his experience.
“With some jobs it was more of a ‘sidestep’ rather than a promotion, but it just gives you more exposure, more chance to build your knowledge.”
These early challenges taught him patience, perseverance, and the importance of a growth mindset.
“The discouragement that people get in a year or two, not getting promoted into a more senior position, it’s never that simple. You definitely need to be patient and prepare yourself because sometimes you have to wait for the opportunity to come and be ready.”
This mindset underpins the way Noel leads his team today, where their success comes from experience, expertise, and strategic alignment.
“We’re fortunate that the team has a good knowledge base and the seniority to know what is required to get the platform into shape every morning,” Noel says.
For Noel, HUB24’s people are at the heart of what makes the organisation successful.
“The best thing about working at HUB24 is definitely the people. There is a genuine care and drive for the work we do. It would be difficult to complete the work successfully without collaboration.”
He has also seen the business evolve significantly during his time here.
“In terms of employee count, the number has basically doubled since I joined,” he says.
Despite this growth, Noel believes HUB24 has stayed true to its client-focused approach.
“I’ve seen the things we do for our clients that I don’t think any other platform would accommodate.”
