New multi-factor authentication measures with HUB24

We know how important it is that you and your clients’ information is kept safe, and with greater reliance on technology in financial services than ever before, cybercrime in Australia is on the rise. That’s why we’ve introduced multi-factor authentication (MFA) measures on an opt-in basis for managers, licensees, advisers, and their clients.

By providing an extra layer of security, MFA makes it incredibly difficult for attackers to get access to your account. In fact, according to Microsoft, MFA prevents 99% of credential theft.1

You and your clients can now opt into MFA, which will apply when you log in and perform certain actions online.

How to set up MFA on your HUB24 login

To get started, you first need to install an authenticator app on your mobile device.

  • If you use an iOS device, you can install the Google Authenticator app from the App Store (it’s optimised for use on iPhones and should work on an iPad as well). On Android devices, you can install the Google Authenticator app from the Google Play Store.
  • The Microsoft Authenticator app, which uses the same standard to create authentication tokens, is available for Android devices from the Google Play Store and for iOS devices from the App Store.
  • If you use the LastPass password manager, consider installing the LastPass Authenticator app, which is designed to work with the LastPass app on mobile devices and the desktop.
  • Alternatively, you may have another app you wish to use (Duo mobile, Authy etc).

After you install the app on your device, the next step is to connect it to your HUB24 login . Generally, this will mean opening your chosen authenticator app, scanning the QR code visible on screen, and following the prompts.

Frequently asked questions

What if my clients are having issues authenticating their account when they log in?

If clients opt in to MFA, they will need to contact our customer support team via phone for any troubleshooting. Advisers cannot authenticate on their behalf.

If I opt in to MFA, what AdviserHUB actions will require authentication?

Authentication will be required when you perform the following actions:

– New withdrawal
– Change password
– Update user contact details and client contact details
– EPI login, enrol, and revoke

How can I disable MFA on AdviserHUB?

If you wish to turn off MFA on your account, hover over your login profile in the top right-hand corner, then select Manage Multi-Factor Authentication. You will be prompted to authenticate the action. If you are having any issues authenticating your account, please contact our customer support team.

What happens if I change my mobile device that contains my Authenticator App?

If you change your device, you will first need to de-register from MFA and then download the Authenticator App onto your new device and re-register for MFA again. To register, hover over your login profile in the top right-hand corner, then select Manager Multi-Factor Authentication.

What if I change my mobile number?

MFA registration is linked to a mobile device not a mobile number. If a user changes their mobile number and continues to use the same device, the Authenticator tool will continue to operate as normal.
